Prerequisites for Index Backups

1. Must Be Registered as a Storage Repository

Index backup can only be configured on a file server where the storage is registered as a storage repository, as shown in the figure below.

2. Storage Type Must Be LV (Logical Volume)

The mount point (e.g., /data must be based on a logical volume (LV). If it is not an LV, it does not meet the requirements for index backup, and the configuration will fail. Only setups similar to the example shown below are eligible for index backup configuration.

3. vgdisplay Must Show Sufficient Free PE

The output of vgdisplay must show that there is available free physical extent (Free PE). It cannot be zero—there must be a certain amount of free space to meet the requirements for index backup.
